Edmonia Barret Bloxton, born 1868, died at age 57 on Tuesday at 6:30 PM, on August 18, 1925. She left her estate valued at $7,260 to him. She was a direct descendant of the celebrated Lewis family of Virginia, being the oldest daughter of William Nelson Barret and Ann Elizabeth Morris.
The connections between the Washington and the Lewis families span generations. The Washingtons and Lewises were related by marriage and by birth. Both families descend from Augustine Warner II (1642-1681), Speaker of the Virginia House of Burgesses, and a common great-grandfather to Fielding Lewis and Catharine, Betty, and George Washington.
Edmonia was the wife of Dr. Benjamin H. Bloxton (1874 - 1932), a well known Richmond dentist.
Edmonia's younger sister, Mary Lewis Barret Fisher Harper, who died on Tuesday, October 7, 1924, was remembered as one of the most beautiful and fascinating girls of the West End, Richmond, Virginia.
Edmonia served as Matron of Honor at her sister, Mary's, wedding at the home of their father on the evening of May 9, 1907 to John W. Fisher, a prominent young businessman, being connected with a large manufacturing firm of New York, NY. His brother, Dr. E. C. Fisher, was his Best Man.
