Army Air Corps Veteran Was Long-Time Pharmacist
Francis Edmunds Bloxton, Sr., 82, of Rockbridge Baths, died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at Havenwood Manor in Lexington.
Mr. Bloxton was born on July 16, 1923 in Charlotte Court House, a son of the late Walter Peyton Bloxton and Hallie Gilmore Franke Bloxton.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served in World War II, graduated in 1949 from MCV and practiced pharmacy for 27 1/2 years.
He practiced in Lexington before purchasing his own pharmacy in Powhatan.
He was a member of the Masonic Powhatan Lodge No. 295, Masonic Mountain City Lodge No. 67 A.F. & A.M. and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Watts Bloxton.
Mr. Bloxton is survived by his son, Francis Edmunds Bloxton, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann Herrell Bloxton of Rockbridge Baths; one granddaughter and one grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. David A. Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethesda Presbyterian Church with Masonic rites. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 948, Lexington, VA 24450. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
