ALEXANDER AUGUSTUS BLOUNT
Passes Away Thursday Evening
After Long Illness

As a result of a long illness covering four years and which was known to be of a serious nature the spirit of Alexander Augustus Blount passed into the great Beyond at eleven o'clock Thursday evening.
The attack which finally ended in death occurred about four weeks ago and since that time family and friends had realized the end was near.
The funeral services will be held at the Congregational Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30, o'clock the Odd Fellows having charge of the funeral, Rev. G.W. Wilson conducting the services.
Alexander Augustus Blount was the son of William and Elizabeth Blount and was born in Bulwick, Northamptonshire England January 7th 1840. When seventeen years of age he enlisted in the English Army with the Northamptonshire Militia and three years later joined the 4th Batallion King's Royal Rifles.
He came to America in July 1861 landing at Quebec Canada preceding to London Canada, where he remained until May 1866 when he decided to try life in the States coming directly to DeKalb where he made his home ever since. For forty years his interests have been with and for DeKalb always a loyal citizen.
Mr. Blount was a magnetic healer by profession and his services have been called into hundreds of homes in DeKalb and vicinity, where his kindly presence as well served to quiet and aid his patients.
The year 1869 he married Miss Martha McNair and to them were born three children, Claud of Peoria, Alex of this city and Frank who died at the age of four years. The two sons are left to mourn.
Thus the old settlers go, one by one. Forms and faces so familiar on our streets are laid away leaving memories behind them that will never die.
