Elizabeth N. Blount, 71, of 305 N. Hancock, died at 5:30 a.m. June 8, 1987, at her home.

She was born on June 26, 1915, near Milton to George Edward and Mabel Helen Kritzman Shobe. A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, she had been a school teacher for 41 years, including at Irving and Douma Schools in Ottumwa until retirement in 1976. She was a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church, Friendship Group, and Concerned Circle of the Church. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Ottumwa Chapter 112, Wapello White Shrine 4, Past President of Mizpah Circle of the King's Daughters, life member of the Iowa State Teachers Association, life member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Honorary Society, member of Wapello County Retired Teachers Association, Ottumwa Women's Club, Ottumwa Business and Professional Women and a member of YWCA.

She married Fred E. Blount on Feb. 23, 1946, in Ottumwa.

She is survived by her husband; a sister, Helen Hoy of Ottumwa; and a brother, Robert Shobe of Milton.

The service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Willard Street United Methodist Church, the Rev. Wilbert Trusheim officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. The family will be at Reece Funeral Home 7-8:30 p.m. today.

Pallbearers will be Herbert Box, Sam Bright, John F. Quinn, Delmar Adkins, M.V. Mooney, Norman Frost, Rex Kinion and Harvey Neff. Memorials have been established to her church or Hospice of Wapello County, 203 Jefferson Square.
