Judith B. Ayres, 65, of Houston, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, in Washington Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 17, 1944, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Lilyan Bedillion Blough of Houston and the late Robert G. Blough.
Stricken with a massive stroke in 2000, she recently was in declining health.
Mrs. Ayres was a 1962 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.
She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Houston. She also belonged to Chartiers Township Senior Citizens Group.
Mrs. Ayres had worked in the banking industry for Washington Federal Bank.
She was an avid football fan, especially for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On August 21, 2009, she would have celebrated her 44th wedding anniversary with her husband, James C. Ayres Sr., who survives.
Also surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are a daughter, Amy Leigh Turney of Manns Choice; two sons, James C. Ayres Jr. and Douglas J. Ayres, both of Houston; two grandsons, William H. Turney of Bedford and Benjamin G. Turney of North Versailles; a sister, Janice Bramer (David) of Houston; a brother, Robert C. Blough (Marianne) of Houston; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, with her nephew, Pastor John Ayres, officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
