Harley W. Bloomquist, age 90, born March 20, 1910, died on June 8, 2000 at the family home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born in American Fork, Utah to John Axel and Hilma Bloomquist. He married Thelma Harper in 1929.Those who knew Harley observed his love for his sweet-heart Thelma and his children, his dedica-tion to St. Mark's Hospital and his un-ique ability to build or repair anything.

Harley and Thelma raised eight children. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Geneal (Bill) Davies, Janet (Tom) Blonquist and Kathy (Greg) Uffens; and two sons, Michael (Becky) and Wayne (Scarlet) Bloomquist; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one brother, LaMar (Norma); and one sister, Helen Van Wagoner. He was preceded in death by Wanda, an infant daughter, sons Leon and Paul and four brothers..

He loved to take family and friends to Strawberry Reservoir to fish in the boat and stay in the cabin he built.

Harley was chief engineer at St. Mark's Hospital on Beck Street for 45 years and assisted in designing and building the new hospital on 39th South. He was chief engineer there for two years. After retiring in 1975, he was constantly designing and building jewelry and wood pieces in his shop and repairing items for family and friends.

Thelma and Harley's family extend a special thanks to Patty Romander for her compassion and help in caring for Harley over the past months.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2000 at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (Northmont Section). Family and friends may call on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and on Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
