And yes..."A" was his middle name!

U.S. Army career officer, helicopter Medevac (medical evacuation) "DUSTOFF" pilot in Korea and South Vietnam. Named 1965 Army Aviator of the Year and in 1966 became the only U.S. Army officer named by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as an "Outstanding Young American". He was featured in a July 2nd, 1965 Time Magazine article. Killed in a terrorist bomb blast at the V Corps Officers Open Mess in Frankfurt, Germany in 1972, he thus became the first American victim of the infamous Baader-Meinhoff Gang's war on American Imperialism. Camp Paul Bloomquist in Ziegenburg, Germany is named after him. He was inducted into the DUSTOFF Hall of Fame in San Antonio, TX in 2003 as well as the Utah Aviation Hall of Fame at the Hill Aerospace Museum, Hill AFB, UT in 2010.
