PIONEER WOMAN DIES AT PRESTON
Another of Ogden's pioneers was suddenly claimed by the "Grim Reaper" Saturday evening when Mrs. Polly E. Barker, wife of James Barker, succumbed to a paralytic stroke, while visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary A. Garner, in Preston, Idaho, Mrs. Barker had been in Prseton for two weeks past and last Wednesday was stricken with paralysis. She was born December 1, 1832. in Bath, New Hampshire, joining the church of the Latter Day saints in the early days and emigrating to Weber county, Utah, in 1850. She was married to James Barker in 1851 and is survived by seven children, 59 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Barker has been an active church worker during her long life and at the time of her death was counsellor to the presidency of the North Ogden Relef society. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the North Ogden meeting house. Friends desiring to see her in her casket may do so Wednesday and Thursday until 1 p.m. at the family residence in North Ogden.
