Rachel Adams Blodgett was a graduate of Wellesley College where she earned degrees in Mathematics and Latin in 1916. After completing her graduate work at Radcliffe, she obtained her Masters in Mathematics in 1919 and her Doctorate in 1921.
She married fellow mathematician Clarence Raymond Adams on August 17, 1922 and they lived in Providence, RI where he was professor and department chair at Brown University. After his death in 1965, she stayed in the family home until 1980, when she moved to the Tockwotten Home, where she died in 1982. She was survived by her sister, Hope Blodgett. The Blodgett Fund at Wellesley was established by a bequest from her estate to be used for scholarships.
