Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Hyman Chester and Alva Thompson Block of Vidor, and brothers, Bobby Gene Block of Houston and Gary Lane Block of Vidor. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Bobbie Dean Cargill Block; son, Milton Gregory Block of Vidor; daughters, Karen Denise Rhame of Vidor and Judy Celana Brueing of Vidor; step-daughters, Judy Gentry Savoy of Vidor, Debra Gentry Ducharme of Hermiston, OR.; sister, Dorothy Mae Petrucci of Vidor; brothers, Melvin Ray Block and Rodney Lewis Block of Vidor and Ronald Allen Block of Beaumont; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Milton was a lifelong devotee and collector of old-time bluegrass and gospel music, and an accomplished musician, playing the acoustic steel guitar. Milton and his wife Bobbie, a guitarist and vocalist, entertained at family gatherings for many years and their music and songs will be sorely missed.
Services will be at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003 and conducted by Rev. M. Phillips if Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of Vidor. Interment with military honor guard will be at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at the funeral home.
