Anne Dudley Blitz, BA University of Minnesota 1904, AM Teachers College, Columbia University 1914, honorary LLD Hobart College. She held deanships at William Smith College (now Hobart and William Smith Colleges), University of Kansas, and the University of Minnesota. She was among a group of women who initiated a course of study for deans of women at Columbia Teachers College and later taught in the program. She was active in the National Association of Deans of Women, attending its first meeting in 1916 and serving as secretary from 1916 to 1919. In a 1930s biographical dictionary, she included a long list of hobbies, including “jewelry making, collecting antique furniture, antique glass, antique jewelry, Persian cats, Pekinese dogs” (Howes, 1981, p. 88).
Born 1881 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Adolph Blitz and Ann Dudley Wickes.
