PROMINENT MAN ENDS HIS LIFE
Saturday night at about two o'clock, after returning home from a hard day's work in his drug store, Mr. Brooks E. Blitch, a prominent druggist of Homerville, ended his life by shooting himself in the mouth with pistol. Death was instantaneous. Mr. Blitch had been in poor health for several years, and at times would become very despondent over his condition. It was probably this despondency Saturday night, while under the influence of whisky, he ended it all. This tragic ending of life has caused the deepest pall to settle over the entire town and since Sunday morning people have seemed depressed and the tragic occurance seems to weigh on their minds. The funeral was held Monday at 2:30 at the home, conducted by Revs. Ballew and Tinsley, the two local pastors, and all stores and places of business were closed and everybody attended. The stream of cars to the cemetery was longer than the distance from the home to the cemetery. The floral wreaths were many and varied and there must have been fifty of them from as many different individuals and organizations. Thus has passed out of Homerville's life one of the most genial, clever and best liked men it has ever had. His presence will certainly be missed for a long time to come, especially in his place of business, and it will never fail to call back to one's mind the tragic events of an eventful Saturday night. The deceased was 39 years old and a native of Bulloch county, being a descendant of Benjamin Blitch, famous old pioneer and Baptist minister of that section. The widow and three children survive, as follows: Mrs. Blanche Drawdy Blitch, Erwin, Charlton Henry
