IVAN PIERCE

Ivan Pierce, 66, of rural Tomah, passed away Friday morning, October 31, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born in Sparta on June 30, 1903, to William and Evelyn Pierce.

He attended school and lived in Sparta during his boyhood days.

On November 9, 1926, he was united in marriage with Helen Miller of Sparta. To this union eight children were born. He spent his lifetime as a farmer and served as a school board member of Sutton school and as a board member of the town of Greenfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marjorie; a son, William; his daughter-in-law, Clarabelle; two sisters and three brothers. He provided a home for Donald and Kenneth, sons of William.

His survivors include his widow, Helen of Tomah; one daughter, Mrs. Jess (Marian) Johnson, Tomah; five sons, Dean, Wilmer and Leland, all of Tomah; Dale of Milwaukee and Milo of Wisconsin Rapids; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Loren of Tomah and Glen of Sparta.

Funeral services were held from the First United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 2, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Thomas Jarrell officiating. Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Sparta.
