Death: Jul. 7, 2011

Cathy was born the youngest daughter of Carl Berkland and Nellie Bell in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on August 6, 1917. She was a beautiful, intelligent young woman who enjoyed acting in school plays and had a tremendous talent for it. She attended junior college in Scottsbluff and then met the love of her life, Bill Blinn. In 1936 they were married and had two beautiful boys, Carl (deceased) and Dick (Judy). Cathy and Dick had a wonderful relationship; she was always willing to go on car rallies and have fun with her special son. Another very special person in Cathy's life was her granddaughter Stefany, who shares so many of her characteristics.

Cathy retired from the San Lorenzo School District as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Curriculum. After living in Nebraska, Texas, Oregon, California, and Montreal, Cathy and Bill relocated to Sun City West, Arizona in the early 1980s. They enjoyed nearly 30 years as active members of the Sun City West community.

Cathy loved cats, traveling, theater, and reading (especially poetry); hobbies which shared with all those around her. Her caring personality and sharp wit were among the many traits that endeared Cathy to her close friends and family.

Cathy had a wonderful life and will be missed by all who knew her. Cathy joins Bill, her beloved husband of 74 years, who passed away in June 2010.

She is survived by her son Dick and daughter-in-law Judy of Olympia, Washington, and granddaughter Stefany of Seattle, Washington.

Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
