HAMPSTEAD, N.H. Robert H. Blinn, 82, of Hampstead, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at Prescott House in North Andover, following a long illness.

Born and raised in Methuen, son of the late Warren and Elsie (Louder) Blinn, he attended Searles High School. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a Carpenter's Mate in the Seabees and was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal.

A resident of Connecticut, before moving to Hampstead 35 years ago, Mr. Blinn retired as a foreman from 3M Co. of Chelmsford and was also the co-owner and operator of the Broken Spindle Antique Shop of Hampstead.

An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and sports enthusiast, he enjoyed the outdoors, cross-country skiing, fishing, boating, hunting, bird watching, and blueberrying. A man with a great sense of humor he most enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Veronica (Gantick) Blinn; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Denise Blinn of Pelham; four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda J. Blinn-Smolen and Walden Smolen of Bozrah, Conn., Vanessa R. Robinson of Willimantic, Conn., Nancy A. and Paul Marin of Haddam, Conn., and Lisa J. Blinn and Jack Carlton of South Berwick, Maine; a brother, John Blinn of Saline, Mich., and a sister, Hazel Riley of Ann Arbor, Mich., also seven grandsons, three granddaughters, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, N.H. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m in the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Holy Family Hospital Cancer Management Center, East Street, Methuen.
