Edith Elizabeth Blevins Ashley
Edith Elizabeth Blevins Ashley, age 93, of Abingdon, Virginia passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at her residence. She was a native of Green Cove, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Dewey and Catherine Blevins. She had lived in Falls Church, Virginia before moving to Abingdon, Virginia in 1969. She loved to sing and was always singing with her family and in the church choir. She was a member of the Green Cove Baptist Church and later in life had attended the Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Abingdon, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James R. Ashley, Jr. and one son, Richard Ashley.
She is survived by three sons, Harry L. Ashley and his wife, Gloria, of Traverse, Michigan, Edwin D. Ashley, Sr. and his wife, Cassandra, of Abingdon, Virginia, and Bryan K. Ashley and his wife, Carmen, of Bristol, Virginia; four daughters, Jacqueline D. Spiegler and her husband, William, Carrolyn J. Ashley, and Patricia E. Baker-Woody and her husband, J. David Woody Jr., all of Abingdon, Virginia, and Leslee K. Joseph and her husband, Tom, of Gainesville, Virginia; other special family members, Robert Baker and James Long; two sisters, Louise Waters and her husband, Tom, of Abingdon, Virginia, and Irma Layman and her husband, Bill, of New Mexico; a sister-in-law, Maria Blevins of Meadowview, Virginia; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
