She was born on July 31, 1928 at Troutdale to Francis Marion and Ella Mae Lovelace Blevins.
She is survived by her husband, Paul T. Emerson of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Clark Anders, and Debra Emerson, all of Independence, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Melody Emerson of Roanoke, Va., and Bill and Tania Emerson of Bland, Va.; five grandchildren, Erica Phillips and spouse, John, of Konnarock, Va., Jared Anders of Independence, Va., Brent Emerson and Austin Emerson, both of Bland, Va., and Chase Emerson of Roanoke, Va.; one great-granddaughter, Challa Phillips of Konnarock, Va.; and three nieces.
The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, Va. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 24, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. in Troutdale Baptist Church, Troutdale, Va. The body will lie in state at the church thirty minutes preceding the service. The Rev. Ken Riggins, the Rev. Scott Flippin and the Rev. Tim Boyette officiating. Interment will follow in Troutdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
