Charlie Blevins, 77, died at 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1970, at his home after a long illness.

Mr. Blevins was a native of Ashe County, NC, but had lived in Shady Valley since 1943. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Taylorsville Lodge No. 243 F. and A.M., and a member of the Shady Valley Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mattie C. Blevins, Shady Valley; four sons, William Blevins and Harvey Blevins, both of Shady Valley; John P. Blevins, Harpers Ferry, WV; and Jessie Blevins, Nottingham, PA; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Garland, Nottingham, PA; Mrs. Edith Dauer, Millington, MI; and Mrs. Opal McQueen, Shady Valley; one brother, Edd Blevins, Rugby, VA; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Testerman, Grassy Creek, NC, and Mrs. Dorsey Testerman, Marion, VA; 27 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Louis Gentry Funeral Home, Mountain City, is in charge of the arrangements.
