Abraham was a son of George and Julianna Easterday Blessing. He was the husband of the former Mary Ent, who survived, as did his small daughter, Penelope, and siblings George, Michael, Christian and Neri Blessing, Julia Buxton and Phoebe Maught.
Abraham was originally laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery at East and Church St. in Frederick. In 1906, the bodies in that cemetery were all removed and reinterred at Mount Olivet. His grave is now unmarked.
Abraham's daughter, Nellie Blessing Eyster, became a well known writer in California, authoring many magazine and newspaper articles and books.
