Mrs. Alice Bledsoe Wilson, aged 89, of Waco, TX, formerly of Arkadelphia, died February 3, 2007. She was born in Clark County near Gurdon, Arkansas February 1, 1918, the daughter of the late Rev. John D. Bledsoe and Rosa Terrell Bledsoe of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Her husband, Robert L. Wilson, preceded her in death.
She was the seventh of nine children. A graduate of Arkadelphia High School and Henderson State University, she did graduate work at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. She was a retired public school teacher having taught forty years in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Montana. She worked as an Ordnance Inspector in Jacksonville, Arkansas during World War II. During that time she played professional basketball on the Little Rock Flyers team.
Surviving Mrs. Wilson are three children: Mrs. Bobbye Kassing of Waverly, Tennessee; Lt. Col. (ret) Douglas Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Dr. Ronald L. Wilson of Waco, Texas; as well as one brother, W.N. Bledsoe of Tyler, Texas; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at DeGray Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Miller officiating, and under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Monday, February 5, at the Funeral Home.
