Funeral Mass for Auturo Blea, 72, of Grants, will be held on July 1, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Burial with full military honors by VFW Lodge 3221 will be at the Grants Memorial Park. Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the Celebrant. A Rosary was held on June 30, 2008, at 7 p.m. at the church.

He was born on May 12, 1936, and passed away on June 26, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed with the uranium mines from 1970 until 1985 when he then went to work at Grants High School. He also was employed with the U.S. Forest Service, among other jobs.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors, gardening and being with his family. He loved everyone and had no enemies.

He is survived by his wife: Lena Blea of Grants; children: Samuel Blea and wife Katie of Grants, Verlinda Blea and fiance Felix Quiroz of Grants, Sampson Blea and fiance Emmaleen Chavez of Grants, Rachel Blea of Grants, Jonathan Blea and fiance Donna Roybal of Grants, Christopher Blea of Grants and Annette Blea of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brother: Julian J. Blea of Albuquerque; sisters: Virginia Uguaret and husband Rudy of San Antonio, Texas, Nancy Chavez and husband Edward of Albuquerque, Priscilla Serrano and husband Gilbert of Espanola, Mela Borrego and husband Alfonso of Albuquerque, Christine Fragua and husband Clifford of Antonito, Colo., and Norman DeSalla and husband Jerry of Albuquerque.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Julian L. Blea and Raquel G. Blea.

Pallbearers will be: Samuel Blea, Verlinda Blea, Sampson, Blea, Rachel Blea, Jonathan Blea and Christopher Blea.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Kandra, Dominic, Patrick, Dominique, Renee, Vanessa, MaryJane, Adam, Nathan, Robert, Marie, Richard and Yvonne.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Compassion Mortuary to help defray the cost of the funeral.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
