Mr. Blasius was born January 8, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Carl Gustave Blasius, Sr. and Rose Belle Raybourne Blasius.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and retired from the Charleston Navy Shipyard after 35 years of service.
After his retirement, he became a well-known self-employed electrician. Jack was a member of the Jacksonboro Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, a Trustee and a Choir member. He was also a member of the Jacksonboro Fire Department, was a mason and was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by a step-daughter, Cynthia Hickman of Hendersonville, and three step-grandchildren: Crystal Martin, Casey Warren and Quinn Warren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Hilda Chaplin Blasius, his step-parents William Herbert Ketchum and Atalie Lacey Muckenfuss Blasius, his two brothers, Carl Gus Blasius, Jr and William Francis Blasius, and a step brother, Adam Muckenfuss.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM January 2, 2014, in the Jacksonboro Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:30 in the church sanctuary.
