Charles Blanton b. 31 December 1900 in Jasonville, Greene Co., IN the s/o Val and Rebecca Hensley Blanton. He died 6 August 1986 at the Carriage Inn in Lyons, IN. He ran a tire and battery station in Lyons, was the Greene Co. Sheriff from 1940-1944, the State Fire Marshall Investigator 1944-1947, the State Probation Officer 1946-1962. He worked for four years at NWSC, Crane as a gun specialist. He was a member of the Bloomfield Church of Christ and Lyons Masonic Lodge for more than 60 years. Also a member of the Mordern Woodman Originazition in Lyons.
He is survived by wife, Opal O. Burdsall Blanton, daughters, Helen Marie Smith of Plainfield, IN, Janet Joline Brown of Sturgis, KY and Judith Elaine Robinson of Bloomfield, brother Marion of Worthington, sisters Pearl Callis of Bloomfield, Flora Ellis of Worthington, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. He was preceeded in death by his first wife Maude Foley Blanton in 1937 and daughter Thelma Blanton in 1946, one sister and 2 brothers.
Funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Fri at Jenkins and Sons in Bloomfield with Bro. Lee Roy Inman officiating. Burial was in Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
