Jonesboro – Charles T. Blanton, Sr., 85, died on Thursday, May 16, 2013 in Marion Rehab and Assisted Living. He was born in Rushville, Indiana on February 16, 1928 to the late Corbie Parker and Lillie Florence (Horseman) Blanton, Sr. Charles married Faye Thomas on October 12, 1974, and she survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War from 1951-1954. He retired in 1988 from Fisher Body, where he worked as a crane operator. He previously worked at Noler's Gulf Service Station and General Tire, both of Marion. Charles enjoyed going to auctions, flea markets, and rummage sales. His favorite teams were the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and IU. He was a member of the Fisher Body Sympathy Club and a life member of the Gas City VFW Post 6728.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Faye Blanton, Jonesboro; children, Gregory J. (Paula Blunt) Combs, Kokomo, Charles T. Blanton, Jr., Marion, Gregory A. Blanton, Sr., Marion, Paula (Allen) Smith, Fairmount, Tina R. (Bruce) Lizar, Marion; grandchildren, Amber, Billy, Chasity, Danielle, Greg, Phillip and Emilee; great-grandchildren, Cole, Olivia, Brody, Taelor, Abby, Malak, Braydon, Makayla, Kiler, and Haven; brother, Ewell (Shirley) Blanton; many nieces and nephews; special brother-in-law, Mike Thomas; and special sisters-in-law, Cleo Dowling and Texas Harreld.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Corbie Parker and Lillie Florence Blanton, Sr.; great-grandson, Nolan; one brother; and 8 sisters.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, Indiana.
Committal Service will take place at a later date.
