Renk Blanksma, 90, of Route 4, Bozeman, died at the Bozeman Deaconness Hospital Tuesday.

He was born April 7, 1888, in Sexbierum, Friesland, Netherlands, son of H. Blanksma and Ann (Hoekstra) Blanksma. He grew up in The Netherlands and came to the United States in 1906, where he settled in the Gallatin Valley. He remained here for two years before moving to Denver, Colorado, where he was employed in construction. He then went to northern Montana where he homesteaded in the Choteau-Dutton area.

He married Fannie Bouma February 15, 1922 in Choteau. He returned to the Gallatin Valley in 1925 where he farmed and ranched until his retirement in 1949. He spent his retirement years in Bozeman.

He was a member of the Bozeman Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daugthers, Mrs. Arnold (Ann) Van Dyke, Bozeman, and Mrs. Henry (Annette) Heys, Phoenix, Arizona; one son, Pete Blanksma, Manhattan; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard, in 1932.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Bozeman Christian Reformed Church. Burial will be at the Churchill Cemetery in Churchill. Dokken-Nelson is in charge of arrangements.

He was born as Rients Blanksma at the country village Sexbierum in the northwestern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland. His parents are Arjen Blanksma and Antje Hoekstra. On 27 May 1907 the 19 y aged labourer Rienk Blanksma arrived with his 20 y aged brother and labourer too Haye Blanksma (= Harry Blanksma, FAG nr. 75679354) on the SS Colombia at New York, Ellis Island. Their last residences in NL were Sexbierum resp. Herbayum and their destinination is Manhattan, Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana, where their brother Douwe Blanksma lives (= Dave Blanksma, FAG nr. 66191077).
