Carrie Irene Blankenship, 81, of 200 Tunnel Road, Apt No. 427, died Friday, April 8, in a Henderson County hospital. A native of Newport, Ternn, she had lived the past 35 years in Buncombe County. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Greene Mooneyham and the wife of George Washington Blankenship, who Blankenship died Oct 23, 1975. SURVIVORS: daughters, Chasteen Beulah Ledford and Betty Sue Buckner, both of Asheville, and Nina Done Davis of Columbia, S.C; sons, Des R. Blankenship of Denton, Chan O. Blankenship of Columbia and Clifton L. Blankenship, Don R. Blankenship and Carroll D. Blankenship, all of Asheville; sister, Nancy Mooneyham of Newport; brother, Dewey Mooneyham of Newport; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday, Anders-Rice Funeral Home; BURIAL: Forest Lawn Cemetery.
