Martha's father, Joel Goff, was married X3. He first married in Montgomery County, Virginia Elizabeth Owens and secondly also in Montgomery County, Virginia Elizabeth Deaton.
Martha's half-brothers and sisters include: George Washington Goff; Joel Goff, Jr. ; Sarah Ann Goff Beckner Akers Patrick; & Nancy Goff Jones.
Her siblings include: Mary Jane Elizabeth Beckner, Charles M. Goff, Ellen Goff, Laura Frances Goff Blankenship, & Louisa Goff.
Martha divorced Thomas Blankenship. He married the widow of John Hubbard, Mary E. Goff, daughter of George Washington and Sarah Edna (King) Goff.
Prior to his August 1870 death, Joel Goff, verbally stated that he would transfer his land holdings to his daughter if she would not go to West Virginia. A number of Blankenship/Joel Goff descendants migrated to Pipestem (Mercer County) and Hinton (Summers County), West Virginia.
Martha's date of death and place of burial are based upon a Wells Funeral Home record and general knowledge of a granddaughter, Mary Jane Blankenship Melton.
Joel and his brother, Nelson Goff, were among the first families to have settled in the vicinity of Spring Hollow Reservoir, Western Roanoke County, Virginia.
