Gladys M. Blanke of Grand Junction died Tuesday, April 27, 1982, at her home after a short illness. She was 78. Mrs. Blanke had been a resident of Grand Junction for 60 years. She was born Gladys M. Embrey Aug. 6, 1903, at Shawnee, Okla. She spent her childhood in Brown's Park, Wyo., and attended schools in Rock Springs, Wyo. She also studied nursing at St. Mary's Hospital. She married Irving H. Blanke in Grand Junction April 15, 1924. He died in Arizona in 1979. Mrs. Blanke's interests included rock collecting and sewing. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction and was a past president of the Women's Club, a member of the Centennial Committee of Grand Junction and the Gem and Mineral Club. Survivors include one son, Donald of Meeker; two daughters, Phyllis Balster of Olathe, and Mildred Repousch of Tucson, Ariz.; three brothers; two sisters; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
