"Alexander Blane, 86, of Delray Beach, Fla., and Cheyenne passed away peacefully on May 15, 2012.
Alex was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and immigrated with his wife and oldest son Alex to New York in 1951. In addition to Scotland, Alex was a longtime resident of Levittown, N.Y., Cheyenne and Delray Beach. He proudly served in the Royal Air Force and was a skilled tool and tie machinist, including working with the team that developed the lunar module; he helped put the first man on the moon.
Alex is survived by Ann, his loving wife of 63 years; children, Alex (Susan) of Boston, Eileen of Fort Collins, Colo., Brian (Kathy) of Parker, Colo., and Bill (Linda) of Dallas; brother-in-law, Jim Symmonds and the Symmonds' family of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A ceremony was held at Seacrest Presbyterian Church in Delray Beach and his final resting place will be in Cheyenne with a celebration of life officiated by the Rev. Bob Garrard at noon Friday at Schrader Funeral Home, 2323 Carey Ave.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the Rev. Garrard, Alex Aragon at Schrader's Funeral Home and all the wonderful people at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Fla."
