Allen Bland, 68 years old, died at his home near Merrimac last Saturday morning after a week's illness, following a paralytic stroke. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Jones Chapel church by Rev. Humble, and burial was in the Bland Cemetery. He was a native of Taylor County and was born here on August 29, 1872. He made profession of faith early in life and was united with the Jones Chapel Methodist Church. He was married to Miss Lou Purdy, December 22, 1893. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lou Bland; three sons: Lacy and Wayne Bland, Casey County; and Hershel Bland, Taylor County; two daughters: Mrs. Walter Belton, Casey County, and Mrs. E. M. Bain, Lebanon Junction, Ky.; four brothers: George Bland, Waverly, Ill.; Irvin Bland, Beauregard, Mo.; William Bland, Wichita, Kan.; and Harlen Bland, Casey County; three sisters: Mrs. Cora Wooley, of Taylor County; Mrs. Sue Ann Tucker, Adair County; and Miss Demie Bland, Waverly, Ill.; nine grandchildren and th!
ree great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Thelbert Baxter, Delmer Bland, Leslie Tucker, Charlie Tucker, Asta Knifley, and Red Combs. Flower girls were: Miss Ethel Baxter, Ethel Cox, Ruth Gilpin, Evelyn, Lena, and Floy Bland, Lottie Purdy, Mrs. Winnie Evans, Miss Johnnie Wooley, and Cora Combs.
