Norma Carr Blanchfield was born March 19, 1928 in Dayton and attended school at Burnside where she was a star on her high school basketball team. She died on Aug. 16, 2007. Services were held this past Saturday in Kersey Funeral Home in Auburndale, Fla.
In September of 1945 Norma married Arval "Bud" Blanchfield. After marriage they made their home in Fort Dodge, then moved to Lake City, where they farmed and enjoyed friends and family. In 1959, Norma moved with her husband and children to Auburndale to begin a new adventure in her life. She attended Christian Church, worked at the Haven Hotel and went into the floral business as a master designer and arranger. Norma went into business for herself as a co-owner of her own flower shop.
Norma retired in 1989. She loved to travel with her husband and saw many beautiful and magnificent places throughout our country from Maine to Alaska.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She has left her family a remaining legacy of love, patience, hardwork, sense of humor and the importance of family.
She is survived by her husband, Arval, daughter Renee Chisholm of Auburndale, son Dana Blanchfield and his wife Barbara of Auburndale, son Perry Blanchfield and his wife Lynda of Columbia, TN, son Kevin Blanchfield and his wife Katherine of Park Hill, OK, and daughter Michele Crumbliss and her husband Marvin of Trinity, FL. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Francis Thompson of Fort Dodge, and Donna Fawcett, her sister and best friend of Auburndale.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lydia Carr, brothers Gerald, Kenneth and Calvin and sisters Velma, Lelvin and Helen.
