Vera was born in Stark to William Horace Potter and Georgia Mae Smith in 1899. Her great grandfather, Justus Potter, moved from Massachusetts to Stark as a young boy in 1806 with his family.

On Jan 15, 1916 in Groveton she married Parker Charles Collins, son of Fitz Henry Collins and Elizabeth Goodrum. He was divorced from 1st wife, Rose Bacon. Vera was 16 years old and Parker was 28.

Their children were Willard A, Parker Charles Jr, Roscoe Frederick, and Rose Junior (who died at one day old, premature birth in Charleston, VT in 1923).

On Feb 3, 1930 in Windsor, VT Vera received a divorce for Intolerable Severity.

On June 14, 1930 in Chester, VT she married Frank Clarence Blanchard, son of Henry Blanchard and Mary A. Lovely.
