The many friends of Alton L. Blanchard were saddened to learn of his death, May 13, 1945, at his home in South Unity after a few months' illness. He was born in Thorndike October 18, 1865, the only child of Abner and Mary (Brown) Blanchard.
He was married to Mabel Alley on February 6, 1892. He has resided on the present homestead for 54 years and up to a few months ago had been very active.
He is survived by his wife Mabel; one daughter, Mava Maxim of Thorndike; three sons, Wendell of Waldoboro, Wallace of Unity and Everett of Knox; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
His services were held Thursday at his home with the Rev. Sterling Holmes of Pittsfield officiating. He spoke very comforting words to the bereaved family. Interment was in the Quaker Hill Cemetery in Unity.
