She was an employee of the Moline Daily Dispatch in the Advertising Department, where she was one of their head artists. She was a charter member of the Alice Kennedy Circle of Kings Daughters. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Moline, IL, where she was baptized.
In 1972 Betsy married John H. Blakley and moved to Indianapolis where she was active with Crossroads Volunteer Association and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She attended Habits of the Heart Bible Study for many years.
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Blakley, one sister, Marion Sorg and one brother, Tom Brown. Betsy is survived by her sister Harriett Paschall, four step-sons, John H. (Lucia) Blakley, Jr., James S. (Patty) Blakley, Joseph D. Blakley and partner William L. Fortune, Jr., Benjamin E. (Brenda) Blakley, and one step-daughter Julia A. (Glen) Blackburn; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is survived by three nieces, Sara Olson (Ron), Ann Halsted (Dan), Cynthia Brown, and one nephew, Tom Brown (Nancie); by one great niece, one great nephew, two great-great nieces and two great-great nephews.
