Vernon Humboldt Blake was born on September 23, 1908 in Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma to Will and Nellie Aden (nee Vandeventer) Blake. He had two siblings:
1) William Blake
2) Anita (Blake) Ellis
Vernon married Frances Virginia Canfield and had two children:
1) John Franklin Blake ( 1934-2008).
2) Ann Virginia/Virginia Ann (Blake) Gibson (1935-1980).
After Frances died, Vernon married Shirley. Vernon and Frances are survived by eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Vernondied on October 25, 1999 at the 89er Guest House in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Graveside services for Vernon Blake were held at 10 am Friday, October 29, 1999 at the Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie. Rev. Terry Martindale of First United Methodist Church officiated, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Guthrie.
