"Mrs. Mary E. Blair"
"Mrs. Mary E. Blair, wife of Mr. L. R. Blair, died Friday morning, August 14. She had been sick for some weeks, but her death was a surprise to many of her friends, who did not realize that the end was so near. The following facts in regard to her life and character have been furnished to the Leader:
She was born May 11, 1846, in Pocohantas county, West Virginia, where she lived to the age of 22 years, and where she was married to L. R. Blair. They moved to Iowa and lived in that state until the fall of 1872, and then went to the frontier in western Kansas, where they made their home until 1882, and with the exception of a short interval have made their home here ever since. Mrs. Blair became a member of the Congregational church at Gaylord Kansas, but finding no church of that denomination here, she becamae a member of the Presbyterian church, and has been a devout and faithful member of that church ever since, indeed having been a christian all her life.
A large concourse of friends attended the funeral service which was held at the home and at the grave Saturday evening.
Mr. Blair and the surviving children have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their irreparable loss."
