Rev. John Hogg Blades was the son of James and Jane (Johnson) Blades. He was born Westburton, Yorkshire. He graduated from Yoremill Academy and came to America at age 23. Helen Adeline (Woodin) Blades was his 1st wife. They were married August 20, 1854. Helen died January 14, 1862. Mary (Ansley) Blades was his 2nd wife. They were married in 1862. Mary died October 25, 1872. Helen Margaret (Bailey) Blades was his 3rd wife. They were married in 1873. Helen died June 10, 1918. Rev. Blades was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: East Genesee Conference 1853 F 1855 To Central New York Conference by change of boundaries 1872 To East Genesee Conference at reorganization and To Genesee (now Western New York) Conference by consolidation 1876.
