Donn Stanley Blackwell
Donn Stanley Blackwell, 77, a longtime resident of Chelan, WA, died October 26, 2011. He was born April 2, 1934, to Herb and Edna (Garrison) Blackwell of Chelan, WA. He attended schools and graduated from Chelan High School with the class of 1952. His interests included sports, excelling in baseball. He served with the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1959, stationed in Germany. Donn worked for Chelan County Highway Department for 25 years, in maintenance and snow plowing, retiring in 1989. He married Shirley Evans on February 2, 1980 in Manson, WA. He was a 45 year member of Lake Chelan Eagles, American Legion, Methodist Church, and the Senior Citizens' Club. In 1998, he and his wife moved to Heritage Haven in Wenatchee. In May of 2011, they moved back to Chelan.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Blackwell of Chelan; his two stepdaughters, Eden Cooley of Wenatchee and Carol Settle of Omak; and one brother-in-law and wife, Monte and Hester Templin of Ellensburg. Donn was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Edna Blackwell; and stepdaughter, Christina Evans, in 1991.
Graveside Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Fraternal Cemetery in Chelan, WA. Please express your thoughts and memories on the online guestbook at jonesjonesbetts.com. Services have been entrusted to Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
