Andrew was born in Hopewell Twp., old Hunterdon (now Mercer) Co., NJ, the son of John and Catharine Blackwell. He married Anna Hunt.

He purchased the Joseph Schenck farm (210 acres) in Raritan Twp., Hunterdon Co., 1835. He was living and farming in Amwell Twp., Hunterdon Co., 1830; in Raritan Twp., 1850 & 1860.

He died in Raritan Twp., Hunterdon Co.
