Peggy Jane Barber was born July 31, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Gertrude Snyder and Roland Blackwelder. She graduated from high school in Omaha after which she attended Stephen F. Austin State University, St. Louis, Missouri. She married Burton LoRay Rose December 24, 1945, with whom she had three children, Vicky, Scott and Kelly. Peggy, Burton, Vicky, Scott and Kelly moved to Lindsay in the late 1950s. Burton died May 22, 1967, leaving Peggy to raise the three children.
Peggy and Wilfred L. Barber were married on January 6, 1984, and made their home in Lindsay. She was an accomplished artist in pastels and oil, taught Yoga, played golf and tennis, was active in the Lindsay United Methodist Church, the Progressive Club, was a member of AR Chapter of P.E.O., was an excellent bridge player, served on the Board of Directors of The Lindsay Municipal Hospital, and worked ten years as an legal secretary and fourteen years for Rural Electric Cooperative of Lindsay.
Peggy passed from this life on Sunday, September 11, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Wil, sons Scott and Kelly and their wives, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a step-daughter, Mary Loren Barber.
Funeral services for Mrs. Barber are set for two o'clock p.m. on Wednesday, September 14th, 2011 at Green Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ron King officiating. Services are under the direction of B.G.
