Marjorie Ellen Bentley (Margie) passed away May 19, 2012 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She was involved in a car accident near Weatherford, Texas and sustained injuries that ultimately claimed her life.
She is survived by her five children, Diane Wright, John Bentley, Jane Bowers, Elizabeth Childress and Thomas Bentley; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Jackson Bentley, along with her parents, James Otis and Letha Madeline Blackerby of Stanton, Texas.
Margie was born May 4, 1923 in Stanton, Texas and graduated Valedictorian from Stanton High School. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and carried a deep faith in God throughout her life. She was an inspiration to all that knew her. Besides being a loving wife and mother, Margie had a very strong work ethic and served in many varied positions throughout her career. She worked as a switchboard operator and in the county clerk's office in Stanton, in administrative services at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, then as a secretary to the librarian at Lubbock Christian College in Lubbock before maintaining a position at FDIC in Dallas, where she retired.
We all loved to hear her play the piano and on birthdays and weddings, Margie would make the most amazing chocolate fudge cake icing. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
