Albert E. Blackburn Sr.

Albert Ernest "Ern" Blackburn Sr., 76, died Jan. 8 at Hospice Savannah.

He was originally from Bulloch and Screven counties and lived in Chatham County since 1939. He was retired from the American Cyanamid Co. as an M.1 MC in maintenance in 1977. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the 2nd Armored Division 27, Tank Battalion as a Staff Sgt. Md Tank. He held membership in the Baptist faith since 1936 and attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Nell Kirkland Blackburn; a son and daughter-in-law, Albert Ernest and Bobbie H. Blackburn Jr. of Roswell; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Kenneth W. Young of Savannah; three brothers, Thomas Blackburn of Port Wentworth, Edd Blackburn of Rincon, and Enoch Blackburn of Central, S.C.; four sisters, Thelma Sommers and Charity Bragg, both of Rocky Ford, and Varietta Williams and Gwenett Simmons, both of Savannah; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. today at Sipple Mortuary.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Monday at Sipple Mortuary, burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
