He was a retired coal miner and cattleman, Army veteran of World War II, member of the American Legion, Bunch Walton Post No. 22, and son of the late Hurley and Christine McWherter Blackard.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eunice Blackard; one sister, Mrs. Rena Hardgrave of Clarksville; three brothers, Ancil Blackard, John Blackard, and W. H. (Dude) Blackard, all of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.,. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 1995, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carmon Austin officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jarvis Chronister, M. E. Chronister, H. B. Chronister, C. O. Blackard, Billy Blackard, and Harlan White.
