Benjamin Black, a retired Elkview miner, died April 5, 1964, in a Charleston hospital after a short illness.

He was born March 4, 1887 in Knox County, Kentucky, to James & Cristina Black.

In the early 1900s, he married Mary Etta Linger. Between 1906 and 1922, he and Etta had seven children. In the early 1930s, he and his second wife, Margaret Estep, had two children.
