Ward, SC - Henry Ernest Black, 79, of Ward died Wednesday morning in Batesburg after an extended illness. Mr. Black was born in Saluda, a son of the late Henry S. and Martha Chapman Black. He was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church.
Survivors include five sons, H. Irby, O'Neal B. and Hazel Black, all of Batesburg; Cecil Black of Eau Gallie, Fla., and William M. Black of Ward; three daughters, Mrs. Calvin Wertz of Saluda; Mrs. Henry Hazel of Batesburg and Miss Corinne Black of Ward; two brothers, P. B. Black of Batesburg and L. A. Black of Ward; five sisters, Mrs. Mattie Wright, Mrs. J. M. Cullum and Mrs. Alice B. Yonce, all of Ward, Mrs. C. B. Banks of Chester and Mrs. R. O. Small of Heath Springs, and 18 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday from Good Hope Lutheran Church near Ward by the Rev. C. J. Rice assisted by the Rev. Earl H. Leadholdt and the Rev. M. T. Cullum. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
