Mrs E M Black

Ward, Feb 27 [1918] -- Mrs E M Black of Ward died about 5 o'clock Sunday morning, Feb 24. Her health had been somewhat on the decline since the early part of December, but she seemed to be doing very nicely until Wednesday afternoon, when she went out with her little granddaughter, Muriel Joyner, looking over her garden; she was suddenly stricken with apoplexy ad died without ever recovering consciousness.

Mrs Black was a Christian woman ad had lived a long and useful life to the good of her church and community. She was affiliated with the Good Hope Lutheran Church, where the funeral services and burial were conducted on Monday, Feb 25, by the Rev M L Kester. She was in her 65th year when the end came and those who knew her best are those who feel most the sorrow of having to give her up.

Prior to her marriage she was a Miss Rodgers and on April 4, 1872, was married to E M Black of her home community. Their days together have been many, their home a real one. She is survived by her husband, E M Black, six sons and daughters, two sisters and 19 grandchildren.
