James G. Black, of Seguin, TX, departed this life June 11 in San Antonio.

He was a son of the late James Melvin and Mable Catherine Black.

After graduating from Biglerville High School in 1941, Mr. Black served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, during World War II as a tail gunner on a B-24. He was in the air over Germany on D-Day for which the French government awarded his flight crew a medal for the Normandy invasion. Mr. Black also served in the Air Force during the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts. He retired from the Air Force in 1975 after 33 years of service. Mr. Black was a member of American Legion Post 245 in Seguin, Masonic Victory Lodge 1160 AF & AM in San Antonio, TX; Sons of Hermann, The Scottish Rite of San Antonio, and Alzafar Shrine of San Antonio, all in TX. Since 2002, he has been a resident at Argent Court in Seguin, TX.

He is survived by two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Black of Gettysburg, and one sister, Shirley Campbell of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Vivian Marie Wilson; one brother, Paul Black, and one sister, Gwendolene Miller.

Interment was with military honors.
