Catherine Wagner Black died peacefully early Friday morning, September 22, 2000. Catherine was born in Denver, Colorado on September 21, 1924 to Mr. & Mrs. Willard Burch Wagner, Sr. She moved to Houston with her family when she was a child. She graduated from Lamar High School and went on to the University of Texas where she joined Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
Catherine married Albert H. Black II on June 23, 1945. She was a member of the Junior League of Houston, the River Oaks Garden Club and St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by infant son David Bennett Black; husband, Albert H. Black; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Willard B. Wagner, Sr.; and brother, Mr. Willard B. Wagner, Jr.
Surviving her are her daughters Catharine Black Lang and husband William A. Lang of Houston, and Anne Black Hall and husband Bradley F. Hall of The Woodlands; grandchildren Jennifer Lang, David Lang and wife Lesley, Bill Lang, Bradley Hall and James Hall. She is also survived by sister-in-law Ruth Wagner Skelton; nephew Willard B. Wagner III and wife Susan; nieces Alicia Wagner, Julie McNamara and Chaille Dalthrop and husband James as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive, from 4 until 6 o'clock Sunday evening, where the family will be present for visitation. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, September 25, 2000, in the chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, with The Rev. Dr. Peter G. Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
