On Thursday, January 17, 2008, Ruth Lieblong Black of Little Rock died peacefully at the age of 92.
Ruth was born on January 10, 1916 in Greenbrier to Mr. and Mrs. William A. Lieblong.
Following her graduation from Conway High School in 1934, she attended St. Vincent's School of Nursing where she graduated in 1937 as her class valedictorian. She was employed at St. Vincent's as a Registered Nurse until she married Dr. Millard Black on August 3, 1942.
Following their wedding they lived in Alexandria, Louisiana and San Antonio, Texas. She returned to Conway to live with her family when their first child Sharon was born and Dr. Black went overseas to serve in North Africa.
Following Dr. Black's discharge from the Army, the couple moved to Little Rock where she on occasion assisted him in his medical practice, volunteered for many community groups, and reared three children. The couple traveled extensively around the world and spent as much time as possible on Lake Hamilton.
Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Carolyn Black Morton; son, Ronald P. Black; brothers, Luther J. Lieblong, J. William Lieblong, and Warren Lieblong; and sisters, Leithia Lieblong, Elsie L. Butler, and Naomi L. Nutter.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Black McCants; grandchildren, Laura Tague, Giles Reynolds, Mary Smith, Dana McCants, Dawn McCants, Danena McCants; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Lieblong and his wife, Shirley Lieblong; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Lieblong; and numerous Lieblong nieces and nephews.
Entombment was at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
