DUMAS (HC) - Funeral services for Elvie C. Blackshear, 72, resident of Dumas 21 years are scheduled at 4 p.m. today from Sixth and Meredith Street Church of Christ where he was a member.

Officiating will be Otis Proffit of Oklahoma City, assisted by the church minister, Derrel Shaw.

Burial in Dumas Cemetery will be directed by Boxwells of Dumas.

Blackshear died at his home, 815 NE 8th, Sunday morning.

He was born in Tennessee in 1893. He was a retired employe of the carbon plant here.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle; six sons, Horace of Big Spring, R.L. of Irving, A.W. and Perry of Dumas, E.C. Jr. of Mesquite, Royce of Muleshoe; stepsons, Jack and W.V. Barnett of Amarillo, and Robert Barnett of Plainview.

Six daughters, Mrs. Ina Bell Manor of Irving, Mrs. Lee Pennington, Mrs. Gene Sipes, Mrs. Fred Martin, all of Dumas, Mrs. Leroy Payne of Arlington, Mrs. Darrell Rowell of Ft. Worth; a brother, four sisters, 51 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
